Hi! It’s me! Lily!!!
Yeah, it was a pillow fight, and a rip-roaring one too. And yes, Sabby was in on it. Woman’s got an arm. Sabby usually doesn’t do things like that. I asked her afterwards when we were all plopped on the bed catching our breath and nursing sore noses why, and she just said “I haven’t felt young in a long while and you’re not going to be here that much longer.”
Awww.
Sabby has never treated me like a child, but lately she’s been treating me a lot more like an adult. She’s told me more about herself, but as a friend rather than a mother. She had it hard, she really did. The stuff she did as a teenager just to survive… I’m glad I was saved from that kind of life. I mean, it made her who she is now, but sometimes I can still see the scars peeking out.
So, Yuki wants to room with me in Japan when I go to school.
I asked her why… I mean, she has her parents to stay with, and she has a bit saved up too from her time as an idol. I guess it didn’t pay great but she was pretty responsible. She just said “I like you, you’re easy to get along with, and I don’t want to be alone when I go back there.” I asked her about Suzuka and Haruna, and she just shrugged. “They’re good people but I don’t think I want to live with them.”
“And you want to live with me?”
“Un”, she said, softly.
She’s going to get a job and start applying to college when she gets back there, she’ll also have entrance exams to take too. But… I think it’s good for her. I agreed.
It’ll be nice to have someone around. I’ve had people around for as long as I can remember (well, you know exactly how long that is). But Yuki will be a roommate… not like Beth or Dave or David or Sabby.
I’m starting to realize. I’m going to be a grown up.
I am a grown up… but I’m going to be one too.
I have to tell Rebecca and her SoCal friends about my secret if I want to teach them the dance steps. Aww. And I have to arrange airfare for them too at some point. Not sure how I’m going to work that out and have any hope at all of keeping even the smallest bit of the surprise, still a surprise.
Oh well. Even if not, I’m sure they’ll have a blast.
